Open interest is the total size of all open positions in a contract, how much money is in the trade. Rising open interest with a rising price means new money is pushing; a rising price with falling open interest means shorts are covering. It sits [next to funding in the layer of what is priced](https://mochatrade.com/learn/start-here/how-to-read-us-market-news), on [the contract header](https://mochatrade.com/learn/start-here/nvidia-trade-walkthrough), and an $11 billion figure is what made one venue a White House topic.
