Lecture 0.1 of MochaLearn, Module 0: Start here. 9:55. Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lOypsyd2rJ0

Who the free MochaLearn course is for, what it covers from the US stock market to gold, oil and taxes, and why the lessons run in this order.

## About this lecture

MochaLearn is a free A to Z course on understanding and trading US stocks and commodities, built for Indian traders. It starts with the basics of the US stock market: how the US government and regulators shape it, how a price forms on the NYSE and Nasdaq, and when each session falls in IST. Then it covers what moves the market: the Federal Reserve and interest rates, inflation (CPI, PPI and PCE), the jobs report and earnings. Next come commodities and other real-world assets: gold, silver, crude oil, natural gas, copper and US government bonds. The last modules cover trading instruments, tax and regulation in India, and risk and position sizing, and the course ends with one complete trade on a practice venue, with no money at risk. It is built around the questions Indian traders ask, such as how to trade US stocks from India, when the US market opens in IST, and why a Fed decision at night moves Nifty the next morning. Each lecture is a short video with notes and a quiz, and a glossary defines each term the course uses, from FOMC to USD/INR. You do not need to know the US market. If you are new to futures and options (F&O), the course points you to a free primer first. MochaLearn is made by Mochatrade. It is free to read and watch with no signup, and it never gives tips or calls. Educational content only. Not investment advice.
In this opening lecture, Pratham explains who the course is for, what you'll learn, and why the lessons follow a specific order: understand the market, understand the asset, then understand the instrument and the risks of a position.
The course roadmap:
- US market structure and the macroeconomic forces that move it
- Gold, silver, oil, government debt and other real-world assets
- Trading instruments and their mechanics
- Taxes and regulations
- Risk management and position sizing
- An end-to-end testnet trade
We also cover how the course works, where you can stop based on your learning goals, and the basics you should already know: futures, option chains, margin and expiry.

## Key takeaways

1. The course runs market, then asset, then instrument, then the risks of a position, in that order, because each layer only makes sense on top of the last.
2. Six modules follow this one: US market structure, real-world assets, trading instruments, taxes and regulations, risk management and position sizing, and one testnet trade from start to finish.
3. You can stop at the module that matches what you came for.
4. It assumes you already know futures, option chains, margin and expiry from the Indian market.
