Open interest
Open interest is the total size of all open positions in a contract, how much money is in the trade. Rising open interest with a rising price means new money is pushing; a rising price with falling open interest means shorts are covering. It sits next to funding in the layer of what is priced, on the contract header, and an $11 billion figure is what made one venue a White House topic.
