Stock split (US)
A stock split divides each share into several, so a 10-for-1 split turns one $1,000 share into ten $100 shares at the same company value; Nvidia split 10-for-1 in June 2024. It changes a stock's weight in the price-weighted Dow, and a contract with no expiry has to be adjusted by somebody on split day.
