Commitments of Traders (COT) report
The Commitments of Traders report is the CFTC's weekly breakdown of who holds US futures: producers, dealers, hedge funds. It lands Friday for Tuesday's positions, about 1:00 AM Saturday IST. In September 2026 it showed funds closing a Nasdaq short before the Fed and rebuilding it five times larger a week later. The CFTC is the futures referee.
