Limit up-limit down
Limit up-limit down is the US single-stock speed limit: a band around the recent price, 5% either side for large stocks and 10% for the rest. If the price sits at the edge for fifteen seconds, trading stops everywhere for five minutes and restarts with an auction. Index-wide falls trigger a separate set of market-wide breakers.
