Trading halt
A trading halt freezes a US stock on every exchange at once. A news halt lets everyone read an announcement before anyone trades on it; a limit up-limit down pause stops a stock that runs to the edge of its band. A free Nasdaq page lists every halt with its reason, and what a contract does while its reference is frozen is the instrument's problem.
